Why Choose LYFE Counselling?

A Different Approach to Counselling

At LYFE Counselling, I believe therapy should feel personal, supportive and centred around you.

Counselling isn't about being told what to do or being judged for how you feel. It's about having a safe space where you can be honest about what's happening, understand yourself more deeply and explore what you need to move forward.

I take a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental approach, adapting our sessions to you rather than expecting you to fit into a particular way of working. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, low confidence, life changes or simply feeling overwhelmed, we'll work together at a pace that feels right for you.

You don't need to have everything figured out before you come to counselling. You just need to take the first step.

My Commitment to You

At LYFE Counselling, I believe counselling should feel personal, supportive and centred around you. My aim is to provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood and accepted for who you are.

I don't believe there is a one-size-fits-all approach to counselling. Everyone brings their own experiences, circumstances and strengths, so I tailor our sessions to you and what you need. I draw on different therapeutic approaches, including Person-Centred Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, EFT and CBT, to create an approach that feels right for you.

My role isn't to tell you what to do or give you all the answers. Instead, I'll work alongside you to explore what's happening, understand patterns that may be affecting you and help you develop greater awareness, confidence and ways of coping.

I want you to feel comfortable being yourself in our sessions, without judgement or pressure. Whether you're facing a difficult period, feeling stuck, struggling with your mental health or simply wanting to understand yourself better, you don't have to work through it alone.

Sometimes asking for help is the hardest part. My commitment is to meet you where you are and support you from there.

How I Can Support You

I offer counselling for adults, young people and couples, both face-to-face in Mickleover, Derby and online across the UK.

My approach is integrative, which means I draw on different therapeutic approaches including Person-Centred Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and CBT. I also incorporate EFT tapping where appropriate.

Rather than expecting you to fit into a particular type of therapy, I tailor our sessions to you, your circumstances and what you would like support with.

How We Can Work Together

Person-Centred Therapy

A warm, non-judgemental approach that gives you space to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. We focus on you as a whole person, helping you develop greater self-awareness and trust in yourself.

Transactional Analysis

A way of understanding the patterns in our relationships, communication and behaviour. It can help you recognise how past experiences may influence the way you respond to yourself and others, giving you the opportunity to make different choices.

Gestalt Therapy

An approach that focuses on the here and now, helping you become more aware of your thoughts, feelings, body and behaviours. It can help you understand yourself more clearly and explore what you need in the present moment.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

A practical approach that explores the connection between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. It can help you recognise unhelpful patterns, develop new ways of thinking and find strategies that can make everyday life feel more manageable.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

A gentle technique that combines focused attention with tapping on specific points on the body. It can be used alongside counselling to help you manage difficult emotions, reduce feelings of overwhelm and develop a greater sense of calm.

FAQs

What should I expect in my first counselling session?

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to talk about what has brought you to counselling. We'll discuss what you would like support with, what you hope to get from counselling and how we might work together.

There is no pressure to tell me everything straight away, and you don't need to prepare anything beforehand. You can simply come as you are and ask any questions you may have.

How many sessions will I need?

There is no fixed number of sessions, as everyone is different. Some people may find that a few sessions are enough, while others may benefit from longer-term support.

We'll work together at a pace that feels right for you and regularly review how things are going, so your counselling remains appropriate and helpful.
