Supporting Your Child's Mental Health
As parents and carers, we want to protect our children from distress and help them navigate life's challenges. However, it can sometimes be difficult to know how best to support a child who is struggling emotionally.
Children may not always have the words to explain how they are feeling. Instead, emotional difficulties can show themselves through behaviour, mood changes, withdrawal, anxiety, anger or difficulties at school.
Some signs that a child may need additional support include:
- Increased anxiety or worries
- Changes in mood or behaviour
- Low confidence or self-esteem
- Friendship difficulties
- Problems sleeping
- Emotional outbursts
- Withdrawal from activities they once enjoyed
Counselling can provide children with a safe space to express their feelings, build emotional awareness and develop healthy coping strategies.
At LYFE Counselling, I work with children aged 7+ and tailor sessions to their age, personality and individual needs. My aim is to help children feel understood, supported and empowered to manage life's challenges more confidently.
